In an effort to curtail the illegal trafficking of adults and children in the U.S., the House of Representative passed five anti-human trafficking bills Tuesday, brought forward by Republican leadership.

All five bills, which aim to do everything from providing additional funding for authorities tackling the problem to requiring states to identify youth in foster care who have fallen prey to the sex trafficking world, passed with bipartisan support. House leadership is confident that related bills voted on Tuesday will meet a similar fate in the Senate.“This is not an issue that breaks out on partisan lines,” House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) Cantor said.

The votes were brought to the House floor at the same time as the U.S. joins the search for hundreds of Nigerian girls who were abducted from their school and possibly sold into human slavery by Islamic extremists…
